Vermont's Licensed Real Estate Salesperson Requirements

What are the state of Vermont's requirements to become a licensed real estate agent?
  1. Must be at least 18 years of age
  2. Complete 40 hours of real estate education from an approved real estate school
  3. The salesperson applicant needs to be sponsored by a licensed Vermont broker and be associated with that broker's office
  4. Pass the exam
  5. Must apply for license within 1 year of passing the exam

Vermont's Licensed Real Estate Broker Requirements

What are the state of Vermont's requirements to become a licensed real estate broker?
  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Must have completed at least 40 hours of approved real estate courses.
  3. Must have at least one year of active experience as a real estate salesperson. The proof of the active experience shall be listing or selling at least six closed transactions during the year.
  4. Applicant must pass the real estate examinations and apply for the license within one year.
  5. Both applicants for the salesperson license and the broker license need to sign statements regarding Child Support, Taxes, and Unemployment Compensation Contributions as part of the license application. The original license fee is $50.00 for either a salesperson or broker license applicant.

Vermont's Licensed Real Estate CE Requirements

What are the state of Vermont's Continuing Education requirements for Real Estate Salespersons, Associate Brokers and Real Estate Brokers?
Salesperson or Associate Broker License CE Requirements:

Real estate licenses in Vermont are issued for a two-year period and are renewed without further examinations.

All salesperson licensees need to complete at least eight hours of continuing education courses. If the initial licensing period is less than two years, then the number of continuing education courses required shall be prorated.

Designated Broker or Delegated Associate Broker License CE Requirements:

Real estate licenses in Vermont are issued for a two-year period and are renewed without further examinations.

All broker licensees need to complete at least 16 hours of continuing education courses during the two-year period before renewal. If the initial licensing period is less than two years, then the number of continuing education courses required shall be prorated.
