Tennessee's Licensed Real Estate Salesperson Requirements

What are the state of Tennessee's requirements to become a licensed real estate agent?
  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  3. Must be a resident of Tennessee for at least 45 days prior to obtaining the license.
  4. Complete 60-Hour Basic Principles of Real Estate Course before sitting for exam.
  5. Pass the state exam with at least a 70%.
  6. Complete 30-Hour New Affiliates Course before applying for licensure.
  7. Within 6 months of passing the state exam, pay $100, have sponsoring broker sign license application, and send proof of Errors and Omissions Insurance.

Tennessee Licensed Real Estate Broker Requirements

What are the state of Tennessee's requirements to become a licensed real estate broker?
  1. Must have an active license that meets one of the following criteria.
    • 24 months actively licensed, if licensed as an affiliate broker on or before May 12, 1988.
    • 36 months actively licensed, if licensed as an affiliate broker after May 12, 1988.
    • 24 months actively licensed, if the candidate has a baccalaureate degree with a major in real estate.
  2. Must have 120 hours of continuing education credits. (30 of the 120 CE hours must be a real estate Broker license class taken at a school approved by the TREC.

Tennessee's Licensed Real Estate CE Requirements

What are the state of Tennessee's Continuing Education requirements for Real Estate Salespersons, Associate Brokers and Real Estate Brokers?
Salesperson or Associate Broker License CE Requirements:

Licenses are issued for a two-year period and expire on December 31, 2006 and every two years thereafter. The renewal fee is $80.00 and the renewal applications are due by November 1st. The premium for a two-year policy is $260.00.

All renewal applicants need to provide proof of errors and omissions insurance.
